Sentinel 300P Series Battery Chargers
Sentinel 300P Series

Murphy’s Sentinel 300P Series battery chargers provide automatic, fast and accurate charging of standby batteries. Sentinel advanced chargers ensure optimal battery power, lifetime and reliability in demanding applications such as power generators, fire-pumps, and critical engine-driven equipment. Switch mode power technology gives a low-ripple DC charge output, plus wide AC supply voltage tolerance, in a compact, light and power-efficient package.

Unlike some generic chargers, Sentinel’s multistage DC output is optimized for your battery type and application – Lead Acid or NiCd; sealed or vented cells; ‘wet’, AGM or Gel electrolyte; lead antimony or calcium plates, cell temperature – all critical factors for maintaining battery health, preventing under/over charge and ensuring peak performance. Sentinel 300P battery chargers provide new levels of DC power control, monitoring and protection for stationary engine starting and standby battery applications.

Advanced Sentinel charging features included as standard: Switch Mode Charging Technology, Multistage Charging, Low Output Ripple, AutoBoost, Temperature Compensation, Flexible Configuration, Inputs and Outputs.

Sentinel 150P Series Battery Chargers
Sentinel 150P Series

Murphy’s Sentinel 150P Series battery chargers provide a range of highly efficient, high performance battery chargers designed for continuous float charge and standby power applications. Switch Mode technology improves efficiency and low heat dissipation, wide supply voltage tolerance and low output ripple all within a compact and lightweight construction design. The chargers are configured for fast, accurate charging to give optimum battery life and reliability.

Each charger’s output can be OEM-configured for optimal charging of different cell types: vented/wet lead acid, Calcium-Calcium, sealed VRLA (AGM or Gel), NiCd or custom requirements. The very smooth output (< 1% ripple) allows charging of sealed or vented batteries or use as a standalone power supply. All models feature an intelligent, multi-stage charge regime: during charge recovery mode, the Sentinel gives a constant (maximum) current output; as the battery approaches peak charge, the output reverts to float charge mode, maintaining an optimum cell voltage and supplying additional standing load current up to the rated maximum. Output current is always limited to the rated maximum, even during high load (e.g. engine cranking), short-circuit or reverse polarity connection.

Sentry Series Battery Chargers
Sentry Series

The Sentry Series provides automatic, current limited and thyristor controlled charging of vented lead acid or NiCd batteries. The units may be used in a wide range of industrial charging applications, including standby engines, pumps and generators. Sentry chargers are based around an economical open-frame design, but can be supplied with a wall mounted enclosure complete with ammeter. The open frame models are designed for surface mounting in an enclosed panel.

Each unit consists of a transformer, rectifier and control circuit. The control circuit ensures that the charger maintains a battery voltage at the pre-calibrated float level, whilst supplying any additional loads current up to the specified maximum. Sentry is designed to give a constant current output while battery voltage is below a ‘knee point’ (approx. 13V on a 12V LA). Above the knee-point, as the battery approaches its float voltage, the charger output current ramps down. This multi-stage charge regime gives an optimum combination of fast charge rate, followed by float charge without overcharging.

The units may be used in a wide range of industrial charging applications, including standby engines, pumps and generators. The Sentry Series is available in standard Sentry, Sentry 7 or UL1236/CSA approved versions.

SM135 Series
SM135

The SM135 is a highly efficient performance charger, designed for continuous float charging and standby battery applications. Switch mode technology gives major advances in power supply and battery charger design: compact and lightweight construction, improved efficiency and low heat dissipation, wide supply voltage tolerance and low output ripple. The result is fast, accurate charging, for optimum battery life and reliability. SM135 has a switchable output for use with 12V or 24V lead-acid, or 10 or 20 cell NiCd.

The wide input voltage range, from 95-277VAC, allows the charger to be used with all common single phase power supplies without adjustment. The very smooth DC output (<1% ripple) makes the SM135 suited for charging sealed VRLA, AGM and Gel batteries, as well as standard vented lead acid and NiCd cells. The charger uses an open-frame circuit board construction with DIN rail clips, for mounting in an enclosed control panel. In charge recovery mode, the SM135 gives a constant current output, maximizing the charge recovery rate.
